Who Do You Reflect?

This week we can see through Paul’s journey what it means when God is with us and the Holy Spirit guides us. It certainly does not mean that our life is all rainbows and butterflies. Despite many challenges and much physical harm, Paul stood boldly in the truth of Christ.

Monday March 15, Acts 21:27-36

Today’s Takeaways:

  • Paul had not disobeyed the traditions of the Jewish people, but because he was with a Gentile and was at the temple the crowds assumed he had broken God’s laws.
  • The crowd went crazy trying to kill Paul.  He was arrested and when they couldn’t figure out what the issue actually was, he was taken to the barracks. The arrest basically saved his life.

Today’s Talking Points:

  • How do you think Paul felt at this moment?
  • How do you think he was able to stay calm when chaos was all around him? (The Holy Spirit gave him courage. Paul trusted that God would take care of him. He could face anything with God’s help.)

Tuesday March 16, Acts 21:37-22:29

Today’s Takeaways:

  • Paul can speak several languages to better relate to people.
  • He shares his testimony about how he became a believer in Jesus. He told the crowd God asked him to go and share the good news with Gentiles.
  • Paul was protected by law from being beaten because he was a Roman citizen.

Today’s Talking Points:

  • Sharing your testimony can sound very scary or intimidating. Have you ever heard anyone share a testimony before? If that’s something you’d like to do one day, you can start by praying that the Holy Spirit will give you courage.

Wednesday March 17, Acts 22:30-23:1-11

Today’s Takeaways:

  • God had a plan for Paul and it was not for him to stay in Jerusalem to defend his faith in Christ. He knew God had told him he was to go far away to tell the Gentiles the Good News. The Holy Spirit gave Paul wisdom to know what to say to the religious leaders.

Today’s Talking Points:

  • The reason why it’s so important for believers to read and memorize God’s word is so the Holy Spirit can comfort us and help us when we face difficult circumstances. Can you recite any Bible verses right now? If not, it’s okay, today is a good day to start memorizing one.

Thursday March 18, Acts 23:12-35

Today’s Takeaways:

  • There is a plot to kill Paul, but God used Paul’s nephew to save him. God gave him courage to do what was right when someone was in danger (even if it could have endangered himself).
  • Paul is then safely transferred to Caesarea.

Today’s Talking Points:

  • When is the last time God protected you?
  • People should be able to tell you’re a Christian by your behavior and actions (just like Paul, or his nephew). What is something you think you might need to work on to better reflect Christ?
  • Friday March 19, Acts 24:1-27

Today’s Takeaways:

  • Paul is put on trial before Felix. Paul is falsely accused but he knows he has a clear conscience before God.
  • After Paul speaks to Felix and his wife about faith in Jesus, Felix is so afraid that he leaves Paul in prison for two years!

Today’s Talking Points:

  • Paul is being accused of being a trouble maker and causing riots, but what is the real reason he is detained? (For his belief in the resurrection of the dead.)
