Who can you trust?

Father teaching his son a valuable life lesson.

Wednesday’s psalm is one that resonates with me…unfortunately. It reminds us how easy it is to trust in things we can see and touch more than we trust in God. I’m ashamed to admit how often I find myself doing that. When faced with a tough decision I will ask a friend, read a book, Google it, or anything else I can control before I think to pray. When someone else is taking care of my kids, I pray and ask God for protection, but when I’m in charge of them, I rarely think to…because I’m trusting in me. The list goes on and on.

The truth is, I have every reason to trust in our God who has saved me from so many difficult situations but instead I choose to trust things who have virtually no bearing on the situation. So, next time you catch yourself trusting in your strength, like I too often do, read Psalm 115 and redirect.
