This week is all about sin and consequences. Fun, eh? Nobody likes to talk about sin…well, we like to talk about the sins of others and make sure everyone knows how terrible “they” are, but we definitely don’t like to talk about our own. Sure, it’s easy to say a generic, “I’m a sinner”, but it’s sure tough to admit to particular sins and it’s really hard to talk about them in front of our kids.
I’m not asking you to go into all the gory details of your past with your kids, but it is important that our kids know that we fall short sometimes too. Use this week to talk openly about choices you wish you’d made differently and how you’re working on doing better now. Sin is tough, but it’s in all of us, so there’s no sense in hiding it.
January 13: Genesis 2:15-25

- The serpent was sneaky in convincing Eve to disobey God. Sin is like that. It doesn’t seem like a big deal and always seems like it will be good and fun for us. How have you seen sin sneak into your life?
