I have certain foods that I like that I’m embarrassed to order in front of people. I don’t if that’s normal or not. I think it’s because I like basically every food and others think certain foods are “gross”. Some “gross” foods are more en vogue to like than others. I also get embarrassed for people in commercials. You know, like, the older man in the checkout line discussing the merits of his stool softener. Or the woman in her bedroom proudly admiring her new, fancy incontinence undergarments. I cringe.
I fear that I sometimes approach my faith with that same tendency to be a little embarrassed.
When Jesus said we should approach him like a child does, I think that had many different facets. Approach him like a toddler runs to hug her dad coming home from work. Approach him assuming he is good. Approach him without an ounce of embarrassment or hesitation. He loves you just the way you are.
