Don’t Forget This The Night Before School

Today at Sunday School we will talk about how to get ready for school. It’s fun to get ready for school; buying new clothes, crayons and a backpack. It’s an exciting time, wondering what your new teacher will be like and who will be in your class. It can also be kind of scary. You will be meeting new people. You may be worried if you will know any one in your class, if you will be able to find your class, or if your teacher will be nice, or if you will make good grades.

We’ll read a book about Froggy who has a dream that forgot to put his clothes on for the first day of school. Of course it turns out to be just a dream. But Froggy did forget something really important. You’re not likely to forget to put on your school clothes, but it’s easy to forget to prepare your heart and mind because you can’t see them.

The Bible tells us (Joshua 1:8) “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” Studying math and history is very important, but the most important thing is knowing God. Studying God’s word will teach us how to treat our friends and teachers, and get along with others.

We will end our day by pray for our new schools, classes, teachers and classmates because the Bible also says (Philippians 4:6) “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs, and don’t forget to thank Him for His answers.”
