You’ve heard it before. Everything worth having is worth working for. Just because we are excited about Jesus today, doesn’t mean our faith will last the rest of our lives. Lasting faith requires good soil and strong roots.
On our recent vacation my husband insisted we go see a banyan tree. If you are not familiar think Swiss Family Robinson tree house. It’s pretty amazing. We went to a city park where the whole area was covered by trees. Except it was just one tree.
“Older banyan trees are characterized by aerial prop roots that mature into thick, woody trunks, which can become indistinguishable from the primary trunk with age. Old trees can spread laterally by using these prop roots to grow over a wide area. In some species, the prop roots develop over a considerable area that resembles a grove of trees, with every trunk connected directly or indirectly to the primary trunk.”
When thinking about that tree I cannot help but think of our church and children’s ministry. It is our ministry’s mission to equip our young Mungarians on their faith journey, but we are with them only for one hour a week. That is why it is crucial for families to read the Bible together, pray and ask questions. It all starts just with one seed, but what can grow out of it is unbelievable.
